The MS Food Policy Council’s Emergent Strategy in its first phase is a board capacity building and value aligned partnership development initiative. In 2020/21 we intend to build the capacity of the board to become transformative food systems leaders, become equity centered policy drivers, and nurturers of equitable state wide food systems transformation. Our desired outcomes of the year long immersion is to 1) build value aligned capacity of board and partners 2) generate a framework to guide the vision and work of the council to respond to emergencies, engage in impactful short term work and build sustainable long term policy practices and 3) nurture transformative food systems leadership through regional policy council development 4) initiate the development of the MS Food Systems Agenda . MSFPC believes that a framework of racial equity, economic justice and environmental sustainability ensures accountable and regenerative pathways to building and sustaining just food policy work that centers the health, well being and dignity of all Mississippians.
