Innovative strategies to improve school meal participation and expand school breakfast; Why schools and other institutions are a growing – and highly profitable – market for farmers; How hospitals, childcare centers, and higher education institutions throughout the country are benefiting from local food.
Hear keynote speaker CheFarmer Matthew Raiford. Matthew is currently the Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Culinary Arts at the College of Coastal Georgia. He is also a farmer who has returned home to Brunswick, Georgia to become the sixth generation farmer on his families’ land that they have owned since 1874. Gilliard Farms, LLC is a Georgia Centennial Family Farm. He has a Bachelor’s of Professional Studies degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and a certificate in Ecological Horticulture from UC Santa Cruz in California.

The conference will include presentations from Mississippians who have had success implementing Farm to Cafeteria programs in our state, training sessions on how to implement Farm to Cafeteria programs in your area, and a networking session for participants and speakers to connect and build projects.
